Blackberry Gemini 8520 - My Review
Sleek and very easy to navigate - those are the first impressions that the Blackberry Gemini 8520 made.

Back then, before I had this phone, I had the Blackberry 8120 - and the difference between these 2 models are miles apart! You see, the Blackberry Gemini 8520 takes a little longer to charge up BUT it's all worth it. The talk time I get from it is significantly longer than my previous Blackberry phone.

Now as for the keys, I think Blackberry could improve on it - I wish it could light up a little brighter. BUT it's NOT a huge issue. I easily got used to it after using it for a couple of days.

There is one minor issue I have with the Blackberry Gemini 8520 - I think there are NOT enough applications or themes that are made for this model. YES, I have to admit, I'm a mobile phone geek. BUT this was easily fixed by downloading a couple of applications and themes from my 8120 to my Blackberry Gemini 8520.

Checking around the internet also does the job. I found a couple of more themes that are amazing...or better yet jaw dropping. There's a 2 gb memory card that comes along with the Blackberry Gemini 8520. BUT foreseeing that it won't be enough for the themes and applications I'm downloading, I plugged in my 4 gb memory card (from the Blackberry 8120).

I think I read somewhere that they will be releasing a 16 gb memory card for Blackberry Gemini 8520 and pretty soon, a 34 gb memory card will be also available. I believe it's in the works now.

As for the quality when it comes to web browsing, I'm giving it two thumbs up. I never had any problems when it comes to dropped calls, lost signals, the keys for text messaging. Everything about the Blackberry Gemini 8520 feels and looks great!

You can even pull up the built in dictionary while you are text messaging. There are so many useful stuffs and niceties that the Blackberry Gemini 8520 has. Heck! Just like a computer, it even comes with a firewall!

It could take hours outlining all of the features of the Blackberry Gemini 8520. BUT here's a better idea - grab one for yourself and enjoy it!

BlackBerry 9700 Bold - The Cons
The Battery Life - While its battery life is a HUGE improvement over the previous Blackberry Bold, I think it can still be improved. You see, I use Pandora (an application that plays Internet Radio), and I only get 3 hours out of the battery (with small breaks when I receive phone calls in between). In normal use, you can get about a day out of the battery. Good enough BUT could be better.

Other than the battery life, I think this is the only negative I have found in the BlackBerry 9700 Bold Unlocked Smartphone. It's more hit and miss - there are people complaining that the Blackberry Maps which is an application shipped together with the phone doesn't work with the BlackBerry 9700.

I have asked other people about it...other 9700 owners and they say that their Blackberry Maps is all good and cool. Pretty random, but it could be irritating. HOWEVER, there's a quick work around this problem - grab Google Maps, which is for FREE!

After using it for a month or so now, I must say that I'm very satisfied with this mobile phone from Blackberry. No hang ups, everything it does...it does it with great ease and speed. Matter of fact, I decided to give it a side by side test with another mobile phone (iPhone), and I found that it loads web pages and applications way faster than the iPhone!

Along with that, you would find comments of other users saying that they are having syncing problems with the Blackberry Storm 9500 Unlocked Phone. HOWEVER, I haven't experienced any of those!

There are comments about the clickable screen as well, saying that they don't care for it. Not in my case! Matter of fact, I really LOVE it. While my fingers are NOT huge, they are NOT tiny either. The full QWERTY keyboard woks just fine for me. One thing I would like to point out - the more you use the typing feature the more you get a feel for the typing on the virtual keyboard.

There is one semi major issue that I would like to point out about this Blackberry Storm 9500 Unlocked Phone - it's kind of hard to find a well built unit. The first 9500 I set my sights on got some sort of contaminant under the glass of the screen. The second 9500 I had came with a bad microphone. The third Blackberry Storm 9500 Unlocked Phone I got have a problem clicking on the edge of the screen. Finally, the fourth Blackberry 9500 I got is the winner!

Good thing, my phone provider switched out the phone without any questions asked. They really wanted me to be a happy and satisfied customer.

Here are some minor complaints (BUT not serious enough to downgrade the phone's quality)"

- I think the music data - the album's name, the artist, title of the song, etc. should be editable on the device instead of editing it on Windows and transferring it to the phone.

- The data being displayed while the song is playing doesn't appear to be configurable.

- I'm looking forward to a 32 GB Micro SD card option. HOWEVER, the 16 GB upgrade option is just fine.

- Last BUT not the least, I think it would make more sense putting the Micro SD card slot somewhere outside to make it easier to switch and replace cards.

In conclusion, I'm recommending the Blackberry Storm 9500 Unlocked Phone! Just make sure that the one you get doesn't have any issues or problems when it comes to functionality.

Many of you for sure know what the new sets and lines of Blackberries are out today - we have the bold, the storm, and this one is the Javelin. Does it live up to its name? I won't go into very deep and techy details that leave end users scratching their heads. Let me give you a quick and easy to understand run down instead.

Compared to other Blackberry mobile phones, the BlackBerry Curve 8900 Javelin Unlocked Phone is perhaps the thinnest, lightest Blackberry with the smallest footprint that I have ever used. One of the things I love about the 8900 is the great look and feel that it showcases. It's just awesome.

When it comes to the screen and resolution, the BlackBerry Curve 8900 Javelin Unlocked Phone comes with a higher resolution compared to the bold BUT a smaller physical screen. With the higher resolution, you can be confident that it has greater clarity. BUT get this - Bold's screen is also beautiful and impressive. I own both you see.

The BlackBerry Curve 8900 Javelin Unlocked Phone is an EDGE and Wi Fi device, BUT it does NOT have any 3G capabilities. Technically, you only need 3G if you are someone who wants to talk on the phone while receiving and sending emails at the same time by using your mobile connections. Since I'm NOT someone who needs that, I don't find this to be a HUGE issue.

One thing you should note - if you are connected to Wi Fi, you can be on the phone while receiving and sending email messages through Wi Fi...so still, it works perfectly for those who want that functionality.

BlackBerry Curve 8900 Javelin Unlocked Phone also comes with a new processor that makes this mobile phone process stuff at amazing speed. YES, the Bold processor back then was slower BUT for many that's fast enough. With the BlackBerry Curve 8900 Javelin Unlocked Phone, you will hardly wait for opening applications, web sites, etc.

I've got an 8 GB Micro SD Card installed in the BlackBerry Curve 8900 Javelin Unlocked Phone and I use the software available from Blackberry for syncing all of my free music from iTunes to my mobile phone. It's a great buy for people who are looking for a device that does it all - make and take phone calls, send emails, browse the internet, play music, and those are just to name a few.

2 Not So Good Things About The BlackBerry Curve 8900 Javelin Unlocked Phone

Just like anything else, the 8900 has some shortcomings worth mentioning BUT still very bearable. There are 2 and here they are:

- The speaker that it has is so small. It sometimes hurts my ears with certain tones - no bass...none whatsoever. That's something to be expected considering the size of the BlackBerry Curve 8900 Javelin Unlocked Phone.

- Micro USB? Why not have a mini USB connector instead? This means you need to get new chargers, travel chargers, etc.

Aside from these 2, everything is fine with the BlackBerry Curve 8900 Javelin Unlocked Phone. I'm giving 5 stars. Check it out, I'm sure you will love it.

BlackBerry 8220 Flip Pearl Unlocked Phone - The Good Side
- Call And Sound Quality - When it comes to making and receiving calls, the sound quality is unparalleled. As far as my experience goes, there is NO difference when I'm making calls through my network or through Wi Fi (which I discuss on the next point).

- Wireless Fidelity (Wi Fi) - The BlackBerry 8220 Flip Pearl Unlocked Phone comes with an integrated Wi Fi receiver. This is good news for people who have a Wi Fi connection at home or unsecured Wi Fi signal. This means you can browse the internet, check your Facebook account, and more from your Blackberry phone without spending a dime in the process.

Here's my advice - grab the free browser (Opera) for the BlackBerry 8220 Flip Pearl Unlocked Phone and browsing through websites would be a piece of cake.

Wi Fi Calling - When you have a connection to a strong Wi Fi signal, you can make calls through the Wi Fi connection. This means you don't have to use the minutes in your phone. I don't know about you BUT this is very cool!

Browsing The Internet - Cruising at web pages and sites is really good for a 240 pixels by 320 pixels resolution screen. In light of that, I would recommend once again downloading a free copy of the Opera internet browser. When you use it with a fast Wi Fi connection, there is almost no loading time for pages.

The Screen - Comparing it to other flip phones I got, the BlackBerry 8220 Flip Pearl Unlocked Phone's screen is small BUT gorgeous. The colors are saturated resulting to sharper looking images.

The Camera - For a 2 mega pixel camera, it works very well. It does a good job of instantly adjusting the shutter as well as exposure. One minor point for improvement - the saturation as well as the contrast could be better. You see, even on the highest resolution available, the images it produces doesn't have the high contrast and sharpness I'm looking for. The built in flash compensates for this though.

And those are just to name a few! Now let's jump and take a look at the not so impressive side of the BlackBerry 8220 Flip Pearl Unlocked Phone...

The Bad And Ugly
- The Battery Life - Sadly, the battery life is NOT very long. And that's true even if you use the phone for only text messaging. Here's an example of how disappointing the battery is - my battery is drained down to about 40 percent from just one day text messaging and NO phone calls.

The BlackBerry 8220 Flip Pearl Unlocked Phone is a phone you need to charge often throughout the day. I hope the guys at Blackberry look at this and fix it.

- Non Standard USB Connector - I don't like the fact that it comes with a non standard USB connector. Once you lose your cable, you need to purchase one that has been specially made for Blackberry. They could've easily made it a standard Mini USB or USB connector.

I have been using Blackberry phones for the longest time, YES, long before they became the leading in name in mobile phones. Back then, the Blackberry 8800 was the one I own and I thought of it as the best Blackberry one could lay his hands.

BUT the arrival of the BlackBerry Bold 9000 Unlocked Phone proved I was wrong. I think it's safe to say that the Bold 9000 is the last and best classic Blackberry since their Storm, which doesn't have a physical keyboard BUT just as amazing, is on a class different from the Bold.

When you place the Bold 9000 next to the Blackberry 8800, the similarities between them are very striking - they have the exact same size, they come with the same keyboard, location of buttons, and even the trackball. Heck! Even the ports are very similar to each other and the same thing can be said about their weight.

HOWEVER, a closer look reveals that the BlackBerry Bold 9000 Unlocked Phone blows even the classy and top notch 8800 out of the water. Let me name some features where the Bold outclasses the 8800.

First, the display - while I love the 8800's high resolution screen, Bold's display is way better - it's bright, clear, and vivid like no other. When you see it, you know that the BlackBerry Bold 9000 Unlocked Phone has taken a step up.

Along with that, you get the camera that has the power to shoot both pictures and video - and produce excellent results. PLUS, the fact that you can add more memory and storage means you can save more videos, files, music, etc. This is ideal for people who want to have a music player, phone, and video player in one neat package.

The speed that the BlackBerry Bold 9000 Unlocked Phone executes applications, loads pages, etc. is also way faster than the 8800. And as for the speaker and the sound quality it produces, it's a little better BUT it doesn't deviate much from the familiar Blackberry you came to know.
